Where Do Petland Scottsdale's Puppies Come From?

Petland Scottsdale's puppies come from carefully selected professional breeders, including some small hobby breeders who specialize in a single breed. We choose breeders for their strong compliance history and their commitment to animal welfare and veterinary care guidelines.

Our owners and managers personally visit our breeders. Since 2014, we've taken more than 20 breeder inspection tours, traveling over 35,000 miles and visiting more than 300 kennels in Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

Petland Scottsdale is also an early supporter of Canine Care Certified, a voluntary nationwide program whose standards were developed at Purdue University by Dr. Candace Croney, Ph.D. It's the only program that measures both the physical health and the behavioral well-being of dogs in breeder care. What Veterinary Care Do Puppies Receive?

Each puppy is seen by licensed veterinarians at several stages before it's available to go home:

1. At the breeder: a wellness check before the puppy leaves
2. On arrival: an exam by our veterinarian within 48 hours of arriving at the store
3. In our care: a consulting veterinarian oversees our healthcare protocols and visits the store weekly
4. Before going home: every puppy is certified healthy by a veterinarian

Many of our puppies are seen by two to three independent veterinarians before they become available. Health records are available on request, and we review them with you before pickup. Learn about our veterinary care

While in our store, every puppy follows a daily care routine. Puppies are weighed daily, have their temperature checked often, and are groomed with bathing, nail trimming and brushing. They get daily exercise, are socialized with both adults and children, and are fed high-quality food.
